Villa Il Colto stands on the very top of a hill which has existed since prehistoric times when the valley at its feet was an immense marshland. At the time of the ancient Romans, it was known as being a rich patrician abode along the road to Le Ville.
Villa IL COLTO is a beautiful villa on three floors, counts 6 bedrooms, 3 doubles and 3 twins (one of twins can be made double), and 5 bathrooms, located in the countryside just outside of a small town. Due to its location on the top of a small hill, it is thought that the villa was once a look out tower for a nearby castle. It was later transformed into a family villa and was once owned bythe renowned Medici family from Florence. It is a perfect base, for exploring Florence (50 mins) and Chianti. It is also within easy reach of and Arezzo (30 mins) and Siena (1 hour). The villa is set in a garden with its own private pool and has views to the surrounding countrysideand towards the local town, which has avariety of local shops as well as a supermarket, restaurants and bars (1km).
The pool area is located close to the house on a sun terrace and can be accessed through glass doors in the ground floor living room / dining room. The pool is 8 x 4 mts and there is an outdoor BBQ for eating at the poolside. The house is set in large grounds (2 hectares), on the top of a little hill and the garden extends down the slopes into pretty olive groves and orchards. As one of the past owners was an expert in Botanics the garden has some rare species of lime tress from the Lebanon, ancient cypress trees, and a variety of fruit trees as well as olives. The house is superbly equipped for a large group. One of the owner lives on the property in an adjacent barn
This is a spacious house, which is perfect for a large family group. The villa has been recently restored by its architect owner with great flair. It has been furnished using top quality fixtures and fittings and is very stylish. It retains the original feel of a Tuscan farmhouse but has been restored to provide every modern convenience. The villa has a wonderful elegant feel to it with many individually selected and handcrafted pieces by local tradesmen.
On the ground floor the main entrance is into ahallway that leads through to an exceptionally spacious living room / dining room and upstairs to the top floor. The spacious living room / dining room has an open fireplace, satellite TV, DVD player. The living room has been very elegantly furnished with handcrafted pieces that have been specially selected. There are several large glass doors leading onto the garden. Table in the formaldining area up to 8, in the kitchen for up 12. The large professionally equipped kitchen has a central work area with large hob and two ovens, microwave, dishwasher, and a large fridge. There is a laundry room with a washing machine. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with shower.
A staircase leads from the downstairs entrance hall to the first floor where there is a second lounge area with open fireplace and satellite TV. There are 5 bedrooms on the first floor and a further bedroom in the tower. On the first floor there are two twin rooms (can be made doubles). These two twin bedrooms share a bathroom with shower. There are three double bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom with bathtub, one has an en suite bathroom with shower and the third has a bathroom just across the hallway with a double sink, shower and bathtub (shared with the tower bedroom). Only one twin room can be made double. All bathrooms have hairdryers. Also on the first floor is a well-equipped study with one computers linked to a fast ADSL internet. connection with printer. All bedrooms on the first floor have air conditioning and all bedrooms also have screens on the windows.
There is a further pretty twin bedroom located in the second floor tower room, once a medieval look out tower. It has windows on three sides and provides a 360 degree view. It shares a bathroom on the first floor landing. This bedroom also has air conditioning.
